In this series, Galka draws on the idea of zoomoprhism blending a world of fantasy with one of reality in order to re-create and intertwine childish daydreams and sophisticated adult thoughts. In his oil paintings, he combines lush and colorful abstract backgrounds with detailed hybrid animal forms. His graphite drawings are more spare consisting of the same hybrid animal forms on plain, white backgrounds.
Nathaniel Galka graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, later getting his graduate degree from Northwestern University. He boasts numerous solo shows at galleries throughout the Midwest and South and has exhibited in group fairs worldwide, including at the IX Florence Biennale Internazionale in Florence, Italy.
